Enjoy a beautiful day exploring the quiet paths and authentic local life just outside the old town. This 4-hour private journey takes you away from the crowds to experience traditional farming, unique water culture, and local food.
This tour can be done by either bicycles or four-wheels. Also choose between a morning fresh-air departure or a lovely afternoon tour that finishes at sunset.

Hour 1: Hotel Pick-up & Exploration at Tra Que Vegetable Village
Your private guide will meet you right at your hotel lobby with a comfortable vehicle to start our trip. We drive straight to the peaceful Tra Que Vegetable Village, a historic farming area famous for its organic herbs and vegetables.
Walk along the tidy, green rows of lettuce, mint, and lemongrass. You can meet the local farmers, see how they use organic seaweed from the lagoon to enrich the soil, and even try your hand at watering the plants using the traditional double watering cans.
The air here smells amazingly fresh, full of natural essential oils from the herbs. It is a fantastic contrast to the busy town center.
Sightseeing Buggy Ride Through the Rice Fields
We hop onto an open-air electric buggy for a relaxing, breezy ride across the countryside.
The buggy takes us along narrow paths weaving through beautiful, wide-open rice fields. Depending on the time of year, you will see a sea of bright green shoots or golden, ripe rice ready for harvest.
Pause for photos along the way. You will get to watch water buffaloes relaxing in the mud and see how rural families care for their fields just outside the old town.
Basket Boat Adventure at Bay Mau Coconut Village
We arrive at the Bay Mau Coconut Forest Tour area, a unique mangrove ecosystem. Hop on the traditional bamboo basket boats managed by local fishermen.
Float through the quiet, shady waterways hidden between wild water coconut trees. The rowers will show you how they steer these round boats, perform the iconic boatspinning, and demonstrate traditional net fishing techniques.
Note: there’s a direct charge if you want to get spun!
Motorboat Cruise to Cam Nam Island & Local Food Tasting
We trade the small basket boats for a larger motorboat at the river dock. Relax on board as we cruise down the Thu Bon River, enjoying the view of local houses, fishing nets, and bridges from the water. The boat drops us off right at the docks of Cam Nam Island.
Head straight to a favorite local riverside eatery to enjoy a classic Cam Nam mid-day treat.
The menu:
- Bánh Đập (Cracker-Smashed Rice Cakes): A fun dish where crunchy rice paper is smashed together with a soft, thin rice sheet, then dipped in a savory chili-pineapple fish sauce.
- Hến Trộn (Stir-fried Baby Clams): Sweet, tiny baby clams harvested from the river, stir-fried with onions, garlic, and herbs, served with crispy rice crackers.
- Chè Bắp (Sweet Corn Soup): A smooth, comforting local dessert made from sweet corn grown right on the rich soil of Cam Nam Island, topped with coconut milk.
Return Transfer
After eating, our private vehicle will pick you up from the island and bring you smoothly back to your hotel doorstep, concluding your countryside escape.
